Year-round, hands-on learning for students in grades K-8

Congratulations to our newest graduates -- Talcott Mountain Academy's Class of 2021! So many adventures and discoveries await you as you begin this new chapter of your lives. We look forward to seeing how your stories unfold!

Today was Career Day — and students in Ste A are reaching for the stars and thinking big!! We have no doubt that they are capable of achieving anything they set they their sights on!

Future Engineers made catapults and contraptions to safely transport eggs from high altitudes; Girls Rock dissected owl pellets and explored bioluminescence.

Students in Suite B tackle some engineering challenges— exploring structural design by making a tower out of popsicle sticks, blocks and cups.

Students in Suite A have some new friends! They’re caring for and observing painted lady caterpillars in their classroom. Students record daily observations in their journals.

Children learn by doing. For more than 50 years, the Talcott Mountain Science Center & Academy has guided children in the hands-on exploration of science, technology and new ideas.

No long boring lectures here. Learning at Talcott is student-driven, which means they're fully engaged and involved. We encourage them to ask (a lot of) questions; and we help them think creatively to solve problems and find answers. We also work directly with educators to help them integrate this type of learning into classrooms throughout the region. Our integrated curriculum provides a robust and meaningful education that fosters both the intellectual and creative abilities of gifted and talented children. Staff and students engage in scientific and educational research to find solutions to problems in an increasingly complex and technological world. Let us fuel your child's imagination through discovery, exploration and innovation.
